Organizing

or also titled: How to create a craft/office room with no money and no furniture.

We have a spare room that has been filled with boxes and all the stuff/junk we couldn't unpack until we are blessed with things to put such stuff on or in.

Here is a picture of the room before. Though it is deceiving as to how big the problem was as we intentionally left out the corners of the room with all the boxes.

However, we needed something, and I can't stand when things are unorganized. So after many hours (where Andy was banned from the room), a few boxes, and $1 we have a space that works (for the most part) for us in this season of life.

Our kitchen fruit holder now holds yarn. And our makeshift table is really 2 boxes, a shawl, and a door that I found in our alley in Tucson. I covered another box with a map (free from AAA) so I would have something to put our green bins on.

On the window is mason jars left over from our wedding to hold pencils, markers and such.

The hardest thing was how to get everything off of the floor, without furniture I mean. So I glued some boxes together, covered them with more AAA maps and cleaned out our change jar to buy sample paint at home depot. I looked in the Oops section and found two jars for 50 cents each.

And yes it does look like boxes...covered in maps, and yes it is quite rickety... but I like it! And it gets the job done. Any leftover packed or unpacked boxes are now out of sight in the closet (Andy did that job :)).

Since then we've been gravitating to this room just to hang out :)

You ARE awesome. And man, if you guys really do come out for Thanksgiving, leave some space in your trunk, because we have a TON (okay, well maybe not a ton, but some) pieces of furniture (that I've gotten from thrift stores/garage sales over the years) that I haven't used at ALL in our home in Wichita. I'd be glad to pass some of it along to some more "needy" people. What'ya think??
